I just don't understand how a country that's in a state of duress expects to write so many blank checks to take in everyone. Why is it considered cruel to enforce border laws? Why do we feel compelled to throw money at so many countries by means of foreign aid, and then turn around to take in their people? We don't even have affordable health insurance or affordable health care in this country for people making liveable wages otherwise. When you have bi-monthly payments that dwarf your paychecks, and then have to pay out of pocket several thousands of dollars for any care you receive outside of basic preventive until a deductible amount is met, it's just not doable for a large number of people. It's stupid to take on so many people as refugees when we have so many problems here. In most places you can get dysentery, but you're going to owe your life's wages to the hospitals if you get it here.
