Well if my blood isn't clean, the red cross must have missed something because they just accepted two units of packed red cells directly from my veins into their blood supply two weeks ago. I didn't even have COVID antibodies. And before you ask, I lied about having sex with men on the questionnaire. I wanted a free covid antibody test. Plus it felt good to finally give blood. I'm gonna do it again in October.

Just think, if you need a transfusion you could get my blood injected into your body. In fact, lots of gay men lie in order to give blood, just for the free testing.

I sincerely hope this isn't true. There's a reason they ask you those questions and refuse to take your blood if you say yes. It is because you put others at risk of catching whatever viral or bacterial infection you did by being a manwhore. Its one thing if you want to do something in your private life, I don't need to hear about it and I don't necessarily want to comment on it either (only do so here because I'm provoked to), but your lack of disclosure could put other people at risk. Next time, tell them the truth so they know how to properly assess if you are even eligible to give blood. Doesn't sound like you are.

Dude this is not cool what you have done... Hopefully your blood does not have any infections but I can't help but think that question is there for a reason, maybe more testing?

Doing kind acts to be evil only makes you evil.

Oh well. I guess I'm evil.

As someone who receives blood products monthly to treat my rare autoimmune disease I sincerely thank you for your donations.

I heard there was a shortage.

Okey dokey. Too bad they won't. Because you have zero control over me. Keep on telling me I have AIDS though if that makes you feel better. That's what this site is all about right? So far I think it's great. Turns out you are much more easily triggered than I am haha.

Yes you are obviously not triggered at all.

Do they actually test the blood before they use it? If not this was irresponsible on your part if you had random sex with strangers recently.

I don’t necessarily agree with a blanket ban of gays when donating blood, but it does warrant additional testing.

EDIT: Also, I’m half Jewish, so my criticism of you isn’t coming from a place of antisemitism.

They wouldn't know which tests to run without the proper information

      [–]briarmoss[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

They run the same tests on all the blood.

      [–]liberty_primer 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

Question is ... which tests? Do they at least do an HIV antibody and/or antigen screen?

I know you resented even sending the link. But thank you. You’ve put my mind at ease about this.

I knew it would be easy to find because I did my research before donating. I wanted to know what it would mean if they accepted my blood, i.e. what tests had to come back negative.

      [–]briarmoss[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I also thought maybe you were asking so I would post it for other people to see which would strengthen my other comments

Oh my God, do your own research.
