Well that's how they make money.

Demoralisation is part of their business structure.

They used to say at the Daily Mail the perfect story was one which left people feeling angry about something, it didn't matter what. It didn't matter whether the article was left wing or right wing.

Now most free papers have this strategy because they get as much money from hate clicks as their loyal readers. The Guardian now publishes articles about how having a barbecue is racist, not because they or their readers agree but because it will attract thousands of people to argue against the article in the comments.
