You can find a lot of the same shows just by Googling "[show name] watch online".
If that still doesn't work... what shows are you interested in? That's a big factor.

My problem is that netflix allows downloading movies and series on phone so you can watch them offline. I'm sometimes for weeks in places with no 4g network and satellite comm is restricted for operational use. So I guess it's just torrenting then.

That sounds like a difficult situation. One thing you could do is share your netflix account with others (or share someone else's netflix account). At the very least, that would minimize that amount of money you're contributing to them.
