Definitely Facebook and Google?

I agree with Google, everyone should be minimizing Google usage as much as possible.
I have a different take on social networks though. Boycotting them is basically self-censorship, which is obviously counterproductive. Instead, I recommend boycotting their advertisers. This does depend on the platform though - I actually think Facebook is one of the better ones (although you have to be very careful with their privacy violations)
What are your thoughts on this?

"Boycotting them is basically self-censorship." - a very interesting take! I never thought of it that way. Maybe dealing with privacy will just be a matter of using an alternative account and some proxies/adblockers/etc.?

This could work. Honestly, people should be using pseudonyms on the Internet wherever possible. Adblockers are always a great idea, although it's important to dismiss them on sites that you value.
Btw, I'm trying to ask everyone this, but have you considered joining the chatroom I linked above? It would be a great place to keep in contact and further discuss the boycott. If you're not interested, that's okay, I also have a sub at /s/Activism (although it will probably be slower).

If you want privacy and anonymity on the net use Tor and Protonmail. You don't have to use it all the time. It's your secret identity.

If you want to boycott Facebook, and Google try:
Minds (social media). Gab (social media). Qwant (search). Brave Browser. Protonmail (e-mail). Mega (storage).
