I saw the total solar eclipse today.... the only time in my life to experience this personally with my own eyes. Here is the spiritual lesson I received....

Today the sun went dark. Where I live, for about three minutes in the middle of the day it looked like night. I even saw two stars that looked unusually bright.

The sun went dark also when Jesus was crucified, as his body hung on the cross, except then the sun was darkened for three hours. When the world rejects God, it goes dark.

A lesson I learned: Before the total eclipse happened, as the moon was beginning to pass over the sun, everything around us in the environment could still be seen. It did not look like night until the moon was perfectly aligned with the sun blocking all of it, and that lasted only a short time. When the moon moved just enough to let even a tiny amount of the sun to shine through, everything became readily visible again.

This is how faith in God works. If you have the faith of a mustard seed, you can move mountains. You only need to start with a tiny amount of faith, then you can see amazing things with God working through you.

The physical sun is a representation of the Son of God. The sun provides us with light and heat. The Son of God provides us with truth and love. Both are the same, as the Son and the Father are One. If you have the Son, you have the Father. If you have the light, you have the warmth. If you allow the Lord to just begin to enter your life, you will see everything around you in the world with new light. Everything will look different. The darkness will flee and you will see how you were previously deceived.

Jesus is the Truth. If you just begin to believe this, he will continue to show you more of his light and his truth, and your mind will be renewed.

When the earth rotates and turns away from the sun, then it truly becomes night and everything is too dark to see. This is like when we turn our back on the Lord, everything looks dark, and we are lost. Turn back to the Lord and let his light shine into your life, and then you will truly see.

Yes, I did, but I do not know your specific needs, so I pray God would lead you into his truth and that you would be free from the deceptions of the adversary. Remember that you also can pray. God wants to hear from each one of us. A good way to start praying is for us to confess our faults to him and ask for his help to overcome those faults. Jesus taught us how to pray by example.

“Pray, then, in this way:

‘Our Father who is in heaven, 
Hallowed be Your name.

‘Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.

‘Give us this day our daily bread.

‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’
