Good to know. My guess they tested with the type 1 plastic bottles. I buy water in Type 2 HDPE (high-density polyethylene) jugs. Usually 2.5 gallon. I figure the larger the volume, the less surface area to volume. This site says it is a safer option, fwiw:

These guys do 5 gallon jugs of water in glass: https://www.mountainvalleyspring.com/

I've been using a standalone RO filter and storing the water in glass. Some components and several of the membranes are plastic unfortunately but I figure at least it isn't being stored in it for any length of time.

Nice that that exists. When I was a kid, I remember the 5 gallon water bottles going from glass to plastic.

It's an issue that affects all plastic containers. It's probably worse with the smaller flimsier bottles.

It was a joke though (?)
