AFAIK, China demonstrated aircraft killer missiles a few years ago. It would make sense if some of those missiles have made it to Iran, just to pester the US.

It's also possible the US found a way to defend their carriers again, but I can imagine why some countries would not see those aircraft carriers as a deterrence anymore.
