Fascinating article, watching the tone of the doctors interviewed. It appears cracks are beginning to form in the wall of "Impossible," but they still desperately want to believe that the shots are good. They have invested so much of their credibility in these shots, it is a brutal process for the medical community to acknowledge they may be wrong. The fact that even with such cognitive bias in favor of the "Safe!" narrative, they are being forced to admit there is something there tells me this is far less rare than this article suggests. If it were that rare, the doctors could still hide in their armor of "nothing to see here", but clearly they're getting uncomfortable. For people so passionately defending their reaction to be changing their view, the effect they are seeing is almost certainly quite large. For medicine to have been so wrong and then literally to force (through threat of livelihood) this mistake on to billions is a tragedy to rival the worst in human history.
