This kind of thing happens all the time and not only with abortion.

If a baby is born with half a head or something quite a lot of birthing teams will collude to leave the kid in a cold room until they fade away.

That's one reason the numbers of thalidomide kids was a lot lower than it could have been.

Of course it's terribly ableist and an actual genocide against a minority so we are now even less able to talk about it now than we were in the past.

I don't think it's fair to expect families to raise children with extreme special needs if the child is likely to have a low quality of life. Particularly if they can't move and speak and are just stuck inside broken bodies. I hope someone has the decency to finish me off if I find myself in that circumstance. I don't know think it's fair to the kids themselves, the parents, and certainly not the siblings whose own care often takes a backseat.
