This article says it is unclear if the door was locked or not, but Fox claims it wasn't.

The classroom door, which Fox News Digital first reported was physically brought into the state capitol for Tuesday's hearing, was unlocked, but officers never even tried to open it, McCraw said.

It was a small town school. One swift kick and it's open, lock or no.

It looks like typical Texas school construction, steel jambs and hinges set into concrete with heavy duty locks and doors. That's the reason they brought that jaws of life shit in with them immediately. There's no wood frame to bust.
