It seems they never really said it would be race based....opponents of it did.

They really wanted to stop penalizing grades for absentees and homework not turned in, also unlimited test/quiz retakes.

Apparently, they point out that certain races seem to statistically have an extreme problem compared to others, with being able to attend school regularly, turn in homework, or study for tests. So, the plan is to bend-over backwards for them.

Yet, I think the wording makes it clear this was all an attempt at racial equality, so the presumptions of the opponents are a reasonable concern, as this plan likely devolves to race-based grading with the unwritten parts.

The no zero's for undone work or absentees is an interesting concept, that I'm on the fence about. The concepts they use to rationalize it, seem to be "growth" based grading, which is utter nonsense in my opinion.

Our education system is meant to teach you a certain, set, amount of things in a specific time period. Grading isn't meant to be participation trophies to make you feel good for trying hard. It is meant to evaluate your progress in learning the required material in the time allotted.

This whole focus on "equity" it total education-system damaging idiot-talk too.
