‘These two kids came up and they’re like: “Hey do you guys know where to get any oxycontin?”' James told Shellenberger. 'And I’m like, “look dude, I’mma tell you right now, you’re not going to get oxycontin out here on the street.”'

Most of these drug addicts were originally hooked on legally prescribed opiod drugs, and turn to this other crap because it is cheaper and easier to get. If we didn't abusively prescribe these addictive drugs for profit, and then make effective treatments such as suboxone impossible to obtain, we wouldn't have this problem in the first place.

san francsico has literally gone gang land.

These aren't gang members, they are just homeless drug addicts that need help

I lived in that City homeless for 3 years I have sat in meth camps for three years.

This is kinda my point. With rent on a 1BR apartment going for 3k a month, the homelessness is unsurprising. Even someone like you who is obviously quite capable and intelligent claim to have experienced homelessness here. Yes SF is a shit hole, but demonizing a few homeless addicts and sweeping them off the street, doesn't even begin to address the social and economic problems that cause these kinds of issues in the first place
