There is something to be said for poorer nations though. They lack regulations over what people do/sell/say. And if you have any existential feeling about life, or don't care about keeping up with the latest trend, it can be a lot more interesting to be away from the power centers of the first world. This may be the attraction of moving to Mexico, ditching USA politics, and living well at a lower cost. I've been going into poorer nations since my 20s and it seems almost you develop a feeling for it. You have to keep going back to Romania, Turkey, Mexico, Uzbekistan, etc...I could never be content just living in Northern Europe or United States. It would be boring beyond tolerance.

Then there is the fact that we rely on crooked trade deals to get stuff cheaply made in these countries, trade deals which ultimately lead to rapid urbanization and joblessness in these nations, giving them reason to emmigrate out.
