Well that's huge. I'm betting money Republicans rush a candidate through before January even though it makes them massive hypocrites when you consider how they treated this situation during 2016.

Meh, makes them more like liars. Everyone knew the real reason they blocked the appointee and the opposite side would've done the exact same. I get it's faux pas to be a realist but the actual motives were obvious to anyone with two brain cells to rub together.

They don't need any reason to block. You need both the White House and Senate to appoint and confirm. The laws are written in plain English.

Yeah, which made the whole lying thing super stupid. I get that they couldn't blatantly come off as "Nah, we own the Senate so who cares" but that's what it was. If they didn't lie about it back then it wouldn't look so bad right now.

I agree, they shoul have just outright come out and said 'hell no', but remember how surreally different the political climate seemed, looking back from 2020 here? like when Joe Wilson's "You lie!" outburst was a huge scandal?

Yeah, I think Obama's second term kinda sent the right-wing off into a weird mood and kinda went off their rocker.

But then when Trump was elected the left-wing fucking melted down. The left went from the party of ScienceTM to believing in Alex Jones-level of conspiracy theories about Russia.
