The fact alternative left wing websites like mintpress that are critical of Israel were also blacklisted shows who was likely driving this google behavior and what their motivation was.

That makes it a dead giveaway at that point. My guess would the that right-wing, but pro-Israel sites didn't get blacklisted then.
