I added "US" to clarify, because not everyone is from the US. It's the inspector general of the US. Come on, man.

There is no "inspector general of the US." No such thing. Never has been such a thing.

"US" isn't part of the job title, it's a descriptor of the location of the Inspector General, because other countries have Inspector Generals too.

You're "splitting hairs".

split hairs means to argue about very trivial differences or unimportant details. When someone is splitting hairs, their arguments are pointless and frivolous. Sometimes splitting hairs is much the same as being pedantic.

I am simply pointing out that the headline is misleading. We can discuss if this was intentional or unintentional. In these days of sensationalist headlines, i suspect the former.
