It has been that way for quite some time. Thank goodness for immigrants! They will pay for my Social Security!

For the last few generations we have sold being childless. Women are expected to work and delay both marriage and children. One day you wake up and realize it is too late.

Somehow we have gotten confused. Having a child, the most selfless act, is now thought to be selfish.

Look at Japan, they're the front runners on this type of culture and they also have no immigration to offset it either!

Amazing isn't it? A society so dysfunctional that boys and girls are not linking up. Add to that a traditional aversion to immigration and you get a huge demographic disaster.

Wasn't the big trope for decades that overpopulation was a problem, now underpopulation is a problem?

Yep. When is was in school (in the Seventies, youngster!) overpopulation was thing. But that changed as more women around the world gained in wealth, health, and education. Now a Bangladeshi woman has fewer children than a French one. But of course a lot of stuff that once was true no longer is.

Still, we got the idea in our collective heads and it will take years to adjust to the new facts.

I have long suspected that the idea of a population bomb was popular because it allowed very nice people to say horrible things. It is rare to find someone who thinks his own race, religion, nation or region needs to shrink. Seems to be way too many of you and just the right number of me.
