Neat. Reminds me of Banksy.

Did you know Banksy isn't an individual, but a group? Even the Gorillaz are part of Banksy.

Banksy is a 'secret', universal art collective. People suspect some of the members and for good reason (there's a lot of evidence for some artists, like Blur's Think-Tank album being done by Banksy, which was "the first gorillaz album, the album that helped define the gorillaz sound", as well as Jamie Hewlett being in Banksy's documentary), but no one knows for sure who the group consists of. Watch Exit through the Gift Shop - in the beginning, you can see members of the Clash and Jamie Hewlett (Tank Girl creator) from the Gorillaz in quick clips. It's also theorized that Shepard Fairey is a member.

Thanks, will check that doccie out. I only really became aware of Banksy after that balloon girl auction shredder stunt. The Banksy vs Robbo War was cool too: https://twistedsifter.com/2012/01/banksy-vs-robbo-war-in-pictures/

The one that sold for 1.4 million at auction and after they sold it, they turned on the shredder they had secretly installed inside in the frame that shredded the art and pumped it out of the frame as soon as the artwork was sold?? That was hilarious lmao.

They were saying the piece was even more valuable after that lmao!

TIL Thanks!!!

Great docu.

I've seen Bankys in person in NYC. In Oakland I shared a warehouse and my house mate went to the L.A. Banksy exhibit c. 2005-2007 where they had the wallpaper-stenciled elephant.

Aurora claims she knows who Banksy is but hasn't revealed it. I've suspected it could be like the Dread Pirate Roberts, but didn't know much more. Makes me happy it's a secret counter-mob.

Makes me want find/join/create a counter-mob of my own. There were others like it but not organized, effective, nor famous enough. For example, in SF I was around the Art-Fag-Mafia, and though I might have even signed up with them, I don't know that it ever actually amounted to anything other than some edgy stickers and mild ephemeral propaganda.

I'm surprised counter groups haven't been set up already.

Banksy is a sanctimonious prick who simplifies political issues into meaninglessness for middle class dropouts who want to feel smart.

I like Banksy. I don't feel smart by seeing their work. I feel like they are clever and I wish I'd done it first.

Did some miss the obvious message, or just intentionally ignore it?

The obvious message? That wamen know how to use tools too? Is that you in the dress? The cracked screen is symbolic of the patriarchy's asshole and the hammer is the anal rape of communism? Do you mean the typo?
