Also something I never understood. What kind of loser would pay money just to make a digital piece of gold appear next to a comment/post? Good thing saidit doesn't have this stupid gilding feature.

It was intended to reward original content that was exceptionally good. I gilded a poem someone wrote that hit me right in the feels with a sledgehammer.

But it's long since degenerated past that.
