It sounds like we need an army of citizens to set up properly sited stations, likely with more modern and much cheaper stations. What does it take to get in on this gig?

Be even better if you could connect them to the net with updates every minute/hour and have "official" numbers from different websites logged next to it to show how badly off they are.

If we're trying to destroy our way of life over .5 degrees I want proof.

My experience has been the opposite. The temperature I read on my own thermometer next to my house is almost always higher than the official readings at the airport, which is surprising since my thermometer is in the shade. I would think my readings would be lower than the official redding.

OK.... I just checked. The reading at the airport, which is used as the official reading for the history books, is currently 92°F, while the thermometer at my house says it is 95°F. The official readings, for my locality, are lower than what I actually observe.

What's the calibration sticker on your thermometer say?

:-) Let's leave the calibration to the authorities. I am just making my own observation and truthfully report it here, even if it doesn't match what you want to believe. I will share another real-life experience... Many of my gardener friends and family are struggling to get their gardens to produce food. It should be obvious to anyone with eyes that the weather has been harsh to life, even without calibration stickers. Famine is on the way.

The urban heat island makes a certain spot look artificially warm? Well let's just go ahead and measure the temperature from over a blacktop parking lot next to an air conditioner!

The whole thing is corrupt. That is what climategate was all about. Everyone who jumped on board the climate science gravy train realized their continued funding depended on them providing continued evidence of global warming so they made sure of that by removing monitoring stations from cooler areas that were recording below average temps.
