How about biodegradable plastic?

To my limited knowledge, "biodegradable plastic" isn't as biodegradable as people think. It requires special conditions to breakdown and isn't as simple as tossing it in the compost like many people think. Not saying biodegradable plastic is wrong, but I think many many people have misconceptions about what they mean by "biodegradable".

I agree, however there have been bacteria that specialize in eating plastics that seem to have evolved over the last few decades.

Insofar as there is "recycling" and "composting", I imagine that it would be possible to create a worthwhile plastic that could well decompose using these newer strains of bacteria. The "oxo-biodegradable" is already old tech.
