They are real but even Nicole Hannah-Jones has said it's because she sees society as irredeemably corrupt that she just going to milk it for all it's worth until it collapses.

The Marxist beliefs actually turn idealistic young people into selfish materialistic hedonists as they become despondent that their theories aren't playing out.

The whole idea of Critical Theory is to bring about the collapse of society and incredible human suffering. Because they'd rather do that than admit that they were wrong .
