You stupid idealist, a high age of consent will do nothing to prevent 12 year olds from having sex. It will only lower the age of the people they have sex with. The question you need to answer is: Why is it better for teenagers to have sex with other teenagers instead of adults?

Even if this were a bad thing, most 16-19 year olds don't want to have sex with older men anyway, so it is a non-issue.
