Look for wild-caught on the package. You can't go by the color of the fish because they add orange coloring to the farm-raised fish so it looks like wild-caught and not white. Pacific salmon is generally wild-caught while Atlantic is farm-raised.

When I was in Peru there was a fair bit of wild salmon around because it had escaped from farms and then ate all the native river fish.

Are you sure about that? I keep hearing horror stories about the Pacific coast salmon farms and their environmental havoc among many other things.

Wild-caught Pacific, not farm-raised Pacific. I like it but my wife prefers the milder flavored Atlantic.
