Look for wild-caught on the package. You can't go by the color of the fish because they add orange coloring to the farm-raised fish so it looks like wild-caught and not white. Pacific salmon is generally wild-caught while Atlantic is farm-raised.

What about those from chile?

Those are typically farm-raised, right?

When I was in Peru there was a fair bit of wild salmon around because it had escaped from farms and then ate all the native river fish.

Are you sure about that? I keep hearing horror stories about the Pacific coast salmon farms and their environmental havoc among many other things.

Wild-caught Pacific, not farm-raised Pacific. I like it but my wife prefers the milder flavored Atlantic.

It's quite easy and cheap to buy tinned wild salmon. Doesn't taste as good though.

  • studies from 2004 and 2005 studying global farming? surely this is a problem for modern Americans.
  • study from 2011 showing eating pollution is bad for mice
  • a youtube video
  • misleading claims about a pair of recent studies
  • LOTS of handwaving. Buzzwords like monsanto and toxic liberally sprinkled in as well as sciency sounding words nobody understands
  • red herrings aboug other creatures people don't eat
  • handwaving about pesticides and genetically modified foods

so: par for the course for the good doctor Mercola

Yikes you are right, this is a poorly sourced article, I apologize. I don't actually eat much seafood, so I didn't read it all that closely before posting it. Will try to be more careful as it wasn't my intention to post nonsense, RFK Jr's site often has some good articles about environmental toxins, but this isn't one of them. Thanks for pointing out the problems so clearly

RFK is crazy-adjacent and all his stuff has to be carefully vetted.

Perhaps, but he was spot on when he sued Monsanto and DuPont for billions and won, and he was spot on about the vaccines too

The article is nothing but rehashed anti fish farm claims. Fear porn. BS.
