I think the CIA is the group with the largest influence over the media all over the world. This article covers some of its influence in Germany.

When the Berlin wall fell i celebrated my 7th birthday on the other side of the iron curtain. In GDR there only was propaganda from their side of the iron curtain. Even though i was a child my parents told me very early which media you can trust (if you even ever can).

Since the new millennium i got a feeling that all media radiating through our screens into our heads have become more like it was in the 80ies.

Pravda used to be so controlled that it was a joke here in the US. Now our media operates just like Pravda did.

There were always some organized disinformation campaigns here. But they never really actively censored views held by 50% of the nation.
