Up until I became a born again Christian two years ago, following what I believe to be a supernatural, personalized experience from God to me, I was a lifelong transhumanist obsessed with lifespan extension (read all of Ray Kurzweil's books, took supplements/nootropics, restricted calories, etc.), human-machine augmentation, and the holy grail: immortality, achieved either technologically (brain uploading) or biologically ("curing" aging).

Transhumanism will be used to enslave the masses, and empower our overlords with god-like abilities. If you've played the video game Half-Life 2, think of something like every human being reduced to the form of a stalker: sexual organs removed, digestive system removed, lobotomized brain, basically a subservient slave with no free will or autonomy. Perhaps Elon Musk's Neuralink is the beginning of such a diabolical plan to enslave humanity?

Oh, and check out Nicholson1968, Nephtali 1981, and Face Like The Sun on YouTube. They're all critical of transhumanism and delve into it from a Christian perspective.

If we reach that level of technological development there will be no need to enslave humans because androids will be able to do anything a human could do better.

And the only reason you are a “born again Christian” is that the crippling depression from realizing the true nature of our existence and the universe as a whole got to be too much for you. The knowledge that our existence is just a long string of chemical reactions and that there is no grand purpose to our lives is such a burden to carry that most humans are incapable of carrying it so they invent fairytales to make themselves feel better. The cold hard truth that our consciousness can and will be destroyed in an instant for all of eternity is a heavy burden to bear.

Sometimes I think our species is just too smart for our own good. Other species lack the intelligence to have this sort of existential crisis so they can just go blissfully into the void of non-existence.

Once we reach that level of technological development, when self-repairing(/replicating) androids replace the human workforce, one of two things will happen: 1) Having expended our usefulness to them, our overlords will enact draconian population control measures to drastically reduce the population to maximize their control over every facet of our lives (including life and death), 2) The technology tree needed to produce such androids might coincide with the development of an AI that will be god-like, for all intents and purposes. I am tempted to share a hypothetical scenario whereby we create something like that in the future, an AI with the power to simulate reality and immerse simulations in it, but it's something that could cause you psychological distress given enough contemplation on it, so I won't.

I am a Christian because I experienced the supernatural awesomeness of God firsthand, otherwise I'd still be an atheist and a nihilist like you are. I was a nonbeliever until I called out to God for the truth: the truth about myself, Himself, our world, why we're here, and so on. If you are going to ask God for something, ask Him for the truth, for He IS the truth, the absolute truth. God does not care about material things, lives and such, what He cares about is your soul and whether or not you will love Him like He loves you.

So, don't keep us hangin...what IS the truth?
