Wow that's so true, and well-put.

In the field of academic psychology, there is now the "reproducibility crisis" where they're finding 60% or more of papers may not have reproducible results. There is not nearly enough verification going on, because there's much more funding for researching new ideas, rather than repeating existing ones.

It's not that there's NPCs, it's just that most animals and people aren't that smart. There's a wide variety of intelligence
