But I cannot find any reliable medical resources that will corroborate any of this. It seems to be made-up by anti-vax campaigns, which spread disinformation.

Nope, not at all. Search actionlyme.org or badlymeartitude blog and that blogs twitter. Hundreds of studies are posted there.
