Let me guess, it will be filled with insane extremist propaganda within a month, then chided by the news for it. Then the people who started it are shocked and never saw that coming, and then they have to create rules that put limits on free speech in order to have reasonable discussions which is what they intended originally.

The rules will then get stronger and stronger as the platform grows in popularity, and then because of the strong ties to academia it will eventually become 100% woke in about 3 years and then become irrelevant

Excellent.

I suspect many on Saidit may not be aware of how challenging it is to run a free speech website.

(I initially selected this post in order to write something about the ways that free speech websites "embrace wide-ranging opinions" and do not stifle debate. /s And as some of us may remember, Reddit was a relatively free speech site in 2006, when I recall there wasn't much moderation, were no karma points for comments, and /r/politics was always an important part of the front page [and was later removed from /r/all, which became entertainment subs]. Their problems began with corporate interference and when another agregate news site went offline, and their 13-year-old users [not kidding] came to Reddit. Before that, there were periodic survays that had shown that most of Reddit were in their early 20s, and worked in IT.)

I think we're starting to see a sea-change. Either humanity will rise up and DEMAND free speech, or we'll lose it forever. Right now we're losing it, and fast.

Yeah we do seem to be arriving at some sort of point where the tide will have to turn

and the insane extremists will be 90% leftists, LARPing in order to destroy the place, and 10% actual nutters.

Just because it is chided by the news does not mean they have any authority to shut it down. I think it will go this way; that such censorship of extremist views, or banning every single forum where extremists can speak their mind, just might, increase those extremist views and cause them to become more intolerant.

But ISIS on twitter is okay.

In your opinion, could this happen to Saidit?

Not really because I have zero interest in going woke, and we don't have to deal with pressure from academia and etc, and I don't work in an area where I can be pressured like that.

It can/does happen to some degree with every forum, and we did have to dial a few things in after launch to get the site where we wanted it, but now that we're 3 years in to it I think saidit is about as "woke" as we're going to get.

Absolutely - when Boogaloos arrive from surrounding cities, heavily armed, killing protestors (in self defence, of course), and to set fires to the university and other buildings (as we've already seen in videos of BLM protests)

Only if someone is extremely desperate to see them as such (though the answer is still: No).
