The private platform thing is ridiculous though when money is monopolized, A few weeks ago a patreon competitor called newproject2 had to shut down, its creator made the site to have a backup for his own patreon and also to offer a place for people who got banned from patreon but were not breaking any laws to go to process payments.

First the banks cancelled his payment processing for no reason and cited TOS violation as the reason.

So he found a new bank to do payments with and instead he was added to the MATCH list which is a global blacklist for financial crimes, we was unable to get a reason for why he was added and there is no way to get removed from this list.

So yeah good luck ever trying to start an alternative to these "private companies"

This is sad but profoundly important news. Has it been posted? This illustrates the stranglehold of the corporatocracy and their banksters.

It’s this recurring issue that leads me to believe that going after 230 is the wrong way to go. Ending or modifying 230 would be incredibly risky. If the protection for hosts goes away, the only people able to risk allowing user-generated content are those with the deepest pockets. Big social media will effectively be The Internet.

Tackling political posturing by banks and payment processors seems a better way to go. People should not be denied banking and other financial services when doing nothing illegal, and these businesses are not being asked to host or endorse content.
