They threw money at it, over half the money thrown at Reddit so far over the history of Reddit. They don't care about ownership, they care about Reddit licking their CCP boots. They're basically doing nation level voting with their vallet.

300 mill or something like that. But other companies also threw 250-350 mill and in a life time they have aquired hundreds of million elsewhere. The shareholders are who determine what the company becomes.

The shareholders have invested money in getting more money back. Therefore they pander to tencent. Tencent has no investment motive, only ideological motive. The other investors are the opposite; they have no ideological motive and just bow to the money.
