it does remind me of the JFK killing a little, but unlike oswald, Amir had a trial and has been in prison for life since. Maybe he didn't do it but is ok with prison because he believes in the cause or something? I think if it was fake they'd have an arab do the fake killing instead but maybe they couldn't get any to go along with it. Who knows. And it's a good point how there happened to be a camera man on a roof that the security didn't care about, that reminds me of how secret service didn't care to check any rooftops in Dallas even though that is standard operating procedure.
