Unilever is a huge company, so much so that they can make the government change its entire tax policy approach!

That is a bit fake news. (just a bit)

They were going to cut the Dividend tax so multinationals (especially from the UK, because of the approaching brexit) would choose The Netherlands to settle. So it's not really about the whole tax policy.

Now the fun part was that the Prime minister used to work at Unilver and named Unilever along with some others (like shell/exxon) as companies they would like to have/draw in/stay. Then it was Unilever that said "Our decision to move to Rotterdam had nothing to do with the dividend tax cut" So the opposition went "Okay so we don't cut it and use the money for good" (It's +- a 2 billion euro a year deal). "No no no, we still go through with it".

And now all of a suden Unilever decides not to move and The Prime minister only said they they were 'going to look' at the plan again (but he still likes and defends it) But all 3 other coalition parties don't like the deal so, yeah, maybe they (and the people) get their way.

So yeah, it's not only Unilever and the deal was in noones election policy and came to be on the negotiation table for the coalition.
