Stakes are indeed high for Israel to give ballast to the US-led coalition in the Red Sea. The US and Israel are desperate to rope in India in their upcoming ill-fated ‘war on terror’ against Yemen, a civilisational state, so as to give their risky enterprise a regional habitation and name.

It's best for India to stay out of these fights if they can - if not outright side with Palestine. I think that Modi has made some serious blunders here.

India/Modi is in a hard place. Their issues with China make them uncomfortable with the Russia-China ‘friendship’ yet they need Russia and her resources and they want the benefit of BRIC’s but they still have that colonialism tether towards the British/West and want to be included in that club too. Yet they know in their heart that the West will use and discard them as a used tissue. What to do? What to do? Tough spot for Modi et al.

The obvious answer is to reach out to China and build a reproachment.

India is far better in the long run with Russia and China than with the US.

Agreed.

But the desire to please the raj is still strong at least in some segments in India.

Also the diamond sanctions on Russia directly affect Modi as the diamond trade in India is Modi’s home district?? And of course if that is true then the Modi connection to the Jewish diamond industry might also play a role??
