I’m sure that recruitment wouldn’t be such a problem if the U.S. Coast Guard wasn’t being deployed to “guard" foreign coasts in the Persian Gulf.

The Coast Guard, like the National Guard, has been abused.

One way to increase interest in serving in the U.S. Coast Guard would be to have the U.S. Coast Guard guard the U.S. coast instead of “guarding" the Persian Gulf coast!!

The son of my acquaintances is in the U.S. Coast Guard and at least one of his missions was in the Persian Gulf!!

How does that protect the U.S. coast??

For better or worse, American youth rushed to enlist after 911. Apparently, they are not similarly motivated by proxy wars.

The US Coast Guard is being used as a second navy and being sent to patrol other nations.

So basically, it follows the same trend against the military, which is also struggling to recruit, are starting to appear.
