The zealous support for Israel from some Indians I've seen online has surprised me. It does make some (bigoted) sense when you consider the modern history of India and its religious rivalries both internal and external (Pakistan). But it's still disappointing to see and when it comes from a high, official level (Modi) it's a bad move for India, as Bhadrakumar understands and explains in this piece.

He's an albatross around Israel's neck, too.

As far as the US goes, I think that if nations like India go away from supporting Israel, it's going to be a big geopolitical loss that isolates the West even more.

India has historically had issues with terrorism, and ethnic disputes between Hindu vs Islam, which is why I suspect Modi has done what he has done (his base being Hindu Indians). I'm simplifying of course, but the US is in danger of "losing" influence over India.
