At the end of next month, California governor Gavin Newsom will face off against Florida governor Ron DeSantis in a ninety-minute debate on Fox News. It’s one of the least subtle signals that Newsom has thrown out lately that he has presidential ambitions.

Not sure what debating a Republican candidate who's doing so lousy in the polls is supposed to accomplish.

The joke is that the Republicans are competing for the job of VP under Trump.

It will demonstrate that Fox News is in on the grift and not credible? They are trying too hard to elevate either of them.

Wonder who they expect to tune in. Maybe establishment Republicans, possibly establishment Dems if they can get past their antipathy toward Fox News. Right populists don't watch Fox since they booted Tucker Carlson and left populists have long sense abandoned all mainstream news outlets.

Good point. This might be a last gasp to try and find an audience. The thing about being establishment anti-populist, is that they tend to not draw a crowd.

I think that this reveals another issue. How do we as a society deal with the fallout of technology if workers are out of a job?

Do we throw them under the bus as Newsom has done or something else?
