I think this is a specious analogy. Israel has had unilateral support from the West when it comes to their security interests while Russia's security interests have been consistently dismissed as unworthy of consideration. The Ukrainian ultranationalists responsible for war crimes and acts of terrorism are homegrown, whereas Hamas is an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood created by Britain and used as a tool by the West to further its geopolitical objectives in the Middle East. Hamas is not the people or "government" of Palestine even if some Palestinians support them. They're a proxy militant group whose objective is not to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict but to make sure it continues as their recent acts of terrorism guarantee. The Israeli government likewise engages in acts of terrorism against the Palestinians and the actions of Hamas have given them plausible justification to continue their genocidal policies; on the other hand, what is happening in Ukraine is a war in which civilian casualties will be inevitable but are not a deliberate objective of the Russian government.

They both seek power and control regionally, and, to some extent internationally. Neither inflict casualties on civilians as an end in itself, but, as a means to intimidation, power and control. Russia and Israel both use the destruction of civilian populations as a means to control populations.

I've seen no evidence that Russia deliberately targets civilians, period; they have targeted Ukrainian forces that were shelling them from positions they deliberately chose in residential areas, which is itself a war crime ("human shields") that has been documented by human rights organizations. Israel indisputably targets civilian infrastructure and civilians.

Oh, come now! Of course Russia is targeting civilian infrastructure! They're blowing the hell out of power plants and electric generating stations as we speak, and that objective is openly expressed. The idea is to freeze out the Ukrainians during the winter, and, it's a perfectly viable military strategy. We can debate who's more genocidal, Russia or Israel, but, they both will do whatever it takes to control populations they perceive as a threat to their regional agendas.

Targeting civilian infrastructure that can serve military purposes is standard and defensible in the context of war according to Doug Macgregor.

Seems to me you're trying to create a false equivalency to give cover to what Israel has been doing for decades in the context of an illegal occupation, but you do you.
