Link to Tucker's interview with Ken Paxton, the just-acquitted AG of Texas.

Unfortunately, many of our cities are in disarray. Mayors and other local elected officials have failed to make public safety a priority or to exercise fiscal restraint. Most of these local leaders are proud Democrats who view cities as laboratories for liberalism rather than as havens for opportunity and free enterprise.

Too often, local tax dollars are spent on policies that exacerbate homelessness, coddle criminals and make it harder for ordinary people to make a living. And too many local Democrats insist on virtue signaling—proposing half-baked government programs that aim to solve every single societal ill—and on finding new ways to thumb their noses at Republicans at the state or federal level. Enough. This makes for good headlines, but not for safer, stronger, more vibrant cities. ...

Still, with my change in party affiliation, I recognize that the number of Republican mayors leading the nation’s 10 largest cities has increased from zero to one. This is hardly a red wave. But it is clear that the nation and its cities have reached a time for choosing. And the overwhelming majority of Americans who call our cities home deserve to have real choices—not “progressive” echo chambers—at city hall.

I wonder what effect the failed impeachment of AG Greg Abbott Ken Paxton will have on Texas voters. Even Democratic voters should be horrified at how baseless, easily disproven allegations were weaponized for political purposes. Interestingly, Karl Rove was involved behind the scenes, probably because Paxton defeated George P. Bush who had challenged him for the AG spot in 2022. The fact that Paxton only learned about the impeachment when it was reported in the media, instead of being notified and given an opportunity to testify during the inquiry phase, tells you what the Democrats are all about these days. Texans should be outraged at the blatant squandering of their tax dollars for such political hit jobs.

I'd say it's worse than that. Government programs can solve societal ills; what they can't do is fix human nature, and that's what really gets Democrats in trouble. They aren't content with making society better. They think they can make people better.

The real problem is that they're trying to change the wrong people. If they really wanted to make people better, they would go after the political and corporate elites that have wreaked such havoc on humanity through our aggressive foreign policy. But they won't do that, it's too hard and more to the point, they're frequently beneficiaries of that very policy. They're like the disgruntled employee who fears confronting the boss so instead goes home and kicks the dog.
