The other possibility is that the F-35 is so stuffed full of sensitive electronics gear that the foil/mesh embedded in its composite skin isn’t thick enough to effectively conduct lightning strikes around the exterior of the plane. Hence a lightning strike could damage the sensitive electronics housed in the interior.

Here's a clue: Russian EW measures can brick an F-35's electronics

Which is why NATO isn't offering F-35s to Ukraine, or even flying them anywhere near Ukraine within range of Russian planes or ground forces.

Shockingly profitable for Lockheed Martin. In the end, isn't that what matters?

Yes, the F-35, the aging “wunder plane” that the U.S. Air Force and Lockheed Martin have been assuring us for decades is just that one fix away from being ready for full-rate production, isn’t allowed to fly within 25 miles of a thunderstorm.

Farce. We're all going to die in a damn farce.

This reminds me of a time when US fighter planes became transistorized and Americans were laughing at Russian MiG fighters which were still using vacuum tubes. They stopped laughing when someone pointed out that unlike transistors, the tubes could survive an electromagnetic pulse (EMP).

I guess I went mainstream since I have a Marshall.

Looking back that amp was such overkill for what I was using it for its comical. By the time I'd get any distortion naturally the entire state would descend upon me for blowing out their eardrums.
