I'm making the switch to Linux, and I never noticed how annoying other operating systems were until now. I love the control I have with Linux.

I'm planning to do this as well but just haven't bitten the bullet because I figure there's going to be a learning curve that will take time. I also want to be sure that some very old software I use will work on that OS.

Yeah, I say that I'm making the switch because my daily driver is still Win10 for Adobe crap, but I revived an old laptop and have been playing around with Linux for a couple months now, and plan to make it my daily driver once I figure out how to get Abode to run in Linux.

I think with older or "incompatible" software is fairly straightforward with Wine or even what's great about Linux is FOSS virtual machine software. That'll probably be my solution.

I would recommend doing a portable installation on a flash drive of some different Linux Desktops to see which one you like first, that's what I did.

Excellent, thanks for this information. That was what I was thinking of doing just to check it out, glad to hear it's worked out for you.

On Adobe, which program? I use an older version of Adobe Professional (8.0, I think) for a lot of the journals I get electronically, so I can extract a single article for filing on my PC where I can easily find it again.
