Everyone has the right to defend themselves. Don't conflate attempts to defend one's self and country with the crimes of Russia, Syria, Israel, and the US invasion of Iraq.

Ok so by your logic, those countries would be perfectly justified in enlisting the Russians and Chinese to aid them in launching terrorist attacks, coup attempts, &c, inside the United States. Weapons sales, targeting data via C4ISR, economic sanctions, all of that is on on the table.

When that happens I expect you to make stupid comments on the internet defending their 'rights' to do so

That's not logic

One of the things I have noticed about Putin (say what you want about him, he is quite the excellent Troll) is that with everything (or almost everything) he has done in his... let's try to be neutral here... interactions with Ukraine, each action that has been done has had a precedent in some action taken by the US at some point in the recent past.

Edit: "The US has recently done this same exact thing," says Putin, "receiving no international condemnation for doing so. This would seem to establish that this action was acceptable in the eyes of the International community. So, I did something that was acceptable in the eyes of the International community."

"Neener neener neener"

My own personal theory is that some of those actions have been done in that way so that just maybe the US will condemn the action instead of Putin's doing of the action, so that if/when the US does that action again, their condemnation of that action will be in the Public Record.

Hmm. One of those mentioned countries seems to not be receiving the same blanket condemnation...
