Perhaps more alarming from Washington’s perspective is the increasingly close security relationship between the UAE and China. Two years ago, U.S. intelligence became aware that China was secretly building a military facility at a port in the UAE. In more than one conversation with MBZ, President Biden expressed alarm and urged him to stop the project, which bin Zayed agreed to do.

I'm surprised that the Washington neoconservatives have taken this long to notice.

Then again, nobody ever accused the Biden regime and the neoconservatives who run the foreign policy of ever being competent at anything, except for maybe the hyper partisans in the Democratic Establishment.

Then, of course, there's also the UAE re-claiming the idea of building an Arab alliance in the Middle East, as Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations have talked about as diplomatic ties have been re-established with Syria and Iran, to name two. China has less of a presence or influence in these AFAIK, but Russia has long-standing ties to both and it's increasing its economic ties with both as well, including orchestrating the North-South Transport Corridor in Iran that will dovetail nicely with China's BRI project.
