The normal Saidit process is a temporary ban for consistent rule breakers. Not juvenile aparthied (permanent tags - like Star of David patches - for those you don't like) and insults...

Over a period of seven years, WotB has found the Turtle Shell and similar measures to be very effective at moderating dickish behavior. They've obviously been more effective than whatever SaidIt does. So I think we'll take the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach.

It's just another way to get rid of people you don't agree with, only more insulting, and not temoporary, as are most bans. Out of 90000 previous Reddit subscribers you now have 30 on Saidit (eg. 18 here now), so it's not really worked out for WatB, seems to me. But the real reason 99% of your original subscribers have left is because the sub title leads one to a sub primarily filled with misinformation peddled by the .01% (anti-vax, anti-Ukraine, anti-democracy, anti-government, anti-education, anti-everything, which encourages people to not vote or throw away their votes on unelectable candidates like RFK Jr.).

You are making the silly assumption that our goal is to get rid of dickish visitors. That's nonsense -- we would like them to continue to engage, but in a civil way. If they can't, well at least "I like turtles" tells readers at a glance that there's a high probability that what the turtled visitor writes won't be worth reading. (See ALW joke below.) Some of the most dickish visitors make excellent cat toys, and WotB members do enjoy catnip. Mkgnao!

    Maybe it's a reference to Monty Python's sketch about "woody" and "tinny" words. "WotB" is decidedly woody, with a nice open "O", whereas "WatB" is tinny.

    Or maybe it's a leftover from National Talk Like a Pirate Day: "Arrr.... WatB this black spot, George Merry?"
