The Haavara agreement was signed on August 1933; so 5 months after the Jews launched their boycott against Germany. Hitler was forced to negotiate with them, because the economy was still weak from the Great Depression.

What is the myth part exactly?

That the Jewish community was completely innocent of wrongdoing, and did nothing to antagonise the Nazis.

Apparently the pressure was lessened with the Haavara Agreement in 1937. Not sure why this is in "WW2 Myths" sub when there was an actual large-scale boycott that the title is referencing. What is the myth part exactly?

Its a bit more complicated than that. The Red Army was poorly trained and poorly led. They were in no way the equal of the Germans. Their only hope of winning a battle was to bring more infantry, more tanks, and more artillery.

While its true that the Soviets did use 'blocking units' to stop their men from retreating, this generally only happened with penal battalions. The Soviets doubted the enthusiasm of these troops, which is why they were always accompanied by a blocking unit.

Nobody knew that would happen in 1940, though. The Germans had just done something that they had never been able to do in WW1: Totally defeating France and forcing Britain to retreat. They did in 6 weeks what they had been unable to do in 4 years.
