I didn't read the full document enclosed in the article because I found it too long and confusing. What I want to know is what exactly did this nurse say? If she was mocking specific transgender patients, then that would be a violation of HIPAA and the nurse-patient relationship, so of course, she should be fired. An important rule of being a medical professional is to never publicly mock your patients no matter how crazy or a pain to deal with they may be. But if she was just expressing opinions against transgender ideology, that should be allowed under general freedom of speech. It would be a huge problem, though sadly very common in the current time, for any workplace to force their employees to agree on everything.

She's Canadian, so HIPAA doesn't apply. But either way she never mocked any of her patients. The case was only about her actions at the time, not actions that followed. Those actions being chipping in for a I❤️JKR billboard and posing in front of it in a photo she posted on social media. She definitely got a lot more spicy about gender in her posts once her case started dragging on, but presumably those comments could not apply to this case.

Oh, Canada, of course 😬. They would probably arrest you just for thinking something politically incorrect.

They stated their opinions a few times without attacking, nothing more: https://karadansky.substack.com/p/ffs-friday-amy-hamm

But read my title. She was "identifying" as a nurse. This is like me saying I "identify" as a computer programmer or a cashier.

They need to get their digs in. They know they've lost the war of popular opinion.

My understanding is that no complaints came from actual patients, and that she used preferred pronouns in her interactions with patients. She publicly supported an 'I 💜 JK Rowling' billboard and became a target of transactivist, who lodged complaints against her with the nursing regulatory body.
