Likely fake news, they want to justify cutting off penises . This person has medical privacy so I get not posting his name but that makes it easy to lie. Or it's possible he did have something Wrong with his fingers and he was in great pain, and doctors just said it was in his head with this dysmorphia nonsense. And the guy went along with it just to get his painful fingers amputated. I knew a guy that had a lot of pain in his leg and wanted to get the leg amputated.

I believe one of the most popular posts on r/TumblrInAction when it was alive was about healthy people who felt they were "supposed" to have a disability and amputated themselves. This isn't a new thing

It surely seems insane to me instead of recognizing the mental distress and treating that, we just decide instead that the thing the mental distress is about legitimate and treat that instead of the underlying problems.
