Honestly, if this law happens, I'd love to see some detransitioner who had a Munchausen mommy call the law's bluff and say "...I was not trans and my parents decided to transition me against my will, that counts as conversion therapy too. I demand you arrest them and jail them."

funny how conversion therapy used to mean using hormones and surgeries to change people who were considered not conforming to gender norms ...

Seems like it would be cheaper to just treat the Gender dysphoria problen rather than jailing the parents.

I don't think anyone knows well how to treat it, makes sense since we don't really have any solid evidence as to what causes it. I suspect there's numerous causes of that aren't easily solved many of which foster as outward identification as the opposite sex, probably more so now since it seems to have become trendy and is the sort of thing that formerly goth or emo or whatever you wanna call them kids would be identifying as now.

Still I once visited Scotland and I must say as a proud alcoholic I was appalled at how they brutally committed an act of violence against my religion by banning the sale of scotch on Sunday mornings, to say nothing of the alcoholism-phobic practice of taxing alcohol at a higher rate. Since I was brutally assaulted by the Scottish government, where is my compensation?

Unfortunately I think there are a combination of far too many dour as fuck "wee frees" (who have a fucking conniption fit if they think somebody enjoys something) that have a unholy alliance with progressives to keep power.

Its like that Cs Lewis quote in realtime...

Indeed. I think it's the simple fact that those who are highly empathic will necessarily fall prey to narcissistic sociopaths. In this case you've got a lot of people who are telling their stories about how much they suffering being denied their true identity or whatever, and perhaps that is true, or at least true from their perspective. The highly empathic, often progressive types can relate and feel a deep need to end that suffering, which I think puts them right in the crosshairs of narcissistic sociopaths who are happy to jump onto whatever bandwagon they think can grant them status.

Come to Bavaria and try buying anything on a Sunday, every thing is closed. Anyway I recall my grand kid saying Gender dysphoria is treatable with hormone therapy that is only one of the treatments for gender dysphoria. Others include voice therapy and psychological support.

The problem is we don't really have an effective treatment for gender dysphoria. Hormones and surgery are a treatment but if we consider the suicide rate before and after doesn't really change all that much it brings to question the effectiveness of that treatment.

I think the only big difference we see is that people who get treatment at all psychological or otherwise probably generally have a lower suicide rate than those who don't. But it's not like you can collect the statistics from people with gender disphoria who killed themselves but never disclosed that they had it.

IMO there's no effective treatment for gender dysphoria because it's not real, and by that I mean not real in the sense that it is a condition that defies logic, hence it's real world manifestation would be impossible.

There are people who think they're cats or wolves or dragons trapped in a human body. But we don't say they have "species dysphoria." Why? Because they have no fucking clue what it's like to be a cat or wolf or dragon. How could they possibly know they are one? They have no reference from which to make the comparison. So then why the fuck would we believe someone who says they're another gender?

A better term I think would be "obsessive gender envy", because all we can say with certainty is there are people who, quite neurotically, wish to have the experience of being and/or be seen as the opposite sex, to the point where it's all-consuming, and affects their ability to function.

Well going back into old medical literature you'll find a condition called "penis envy" which seemed to be a fairly common thing with young girls especially those with male siblings basically because they just "want to pee standing up like a boy" which frankly seems like a perfectly reasonable thing. It's definitely not gender disphoria but I wonder if these days it wouldn't be classified as such. From what I've seen of the online trans-masculine stuff a lot of it does seem like it includes a very strong desire to use a urinal including various workarounds for it.
